This course is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals who want to learn how point-of-care ultrasound can be used for focused assessment in obstetrics and gynecology.

The course focuses on practical ultrasound skills for assessing pregnancy, fetal viability and development, as well as focused gynecological applications including confirmation of contraceptive device placement.

What you will learn

Throughout the course, we will cover:

• Pregnancy location – learn how ultrasound can be used to confirm an intrauterine pregnancy and recognize findings that may raise suspicion of an ectopic pregnancy.
• Fetal viability – assess fetal cardiac activity and other ultrasound findings relevant to viability.
• Number of fetuses – identify singleton and multiple pregnancies using ultrasound.
• Gestational age – learn how ultrasound measurements can be used to estimate gestational age.
• Amniotic fluid – learn how to assess and measure amniotic fluid volume.
• Fetal position – identify fetal presentation and position using ultrasound.
• Placental position – learn how to identify and assess the location of the placenta.
• IUD placement – use ultrasound to confirm the position of an intrauterine contraceptive device.
• Contraceptive implant placement – learn how ultrasound can be used to locate and confirm the position of a subdermal contraceptive implant.
