This intermediate course is designed for physicians and other healthcare professionals who already have basic experience with cardiac ultrasound and want to expand their ability to recognize clinically important findings.

The course focuses on how point-of-care ultrasound can support clinical assessment and decision-making in patients with common and potentially serious cardiac conditions.

What you will learn

Throughout the course, we will cover:

• Acute coronary disease – recognize ultrasound findings that may indicate regional cardiac dysfunction.
• Valvular heart disease – identify important findings associated with common valve pathologies.
• Pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade – recognize pericardial fluid and ultrasound signs of hemodynamic compromise.
• Thoracic aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection – understand when and how POCUS may help identify concerning aortic pathology.
• Pericardial vs. pleural effusion – learn how to distinguish between the two using ultrasound.
• Volume status – use focused ultrasound findings as part of the assessment of a patient’s hemodynamic and fluid status.
